Gallantry Awards

Alfred Rolt - Private - From a local newspaper dated  6/10/1917 = Private Alfred Rolt, 1st Hunts. Cyclists, who transferred to 1/7th Royal Warwicks, has been awarded the Military Medal in France for bravery and rare service in the field.

From a local newspaper dated 6/10/1917  =   Pte. Alfred Rolt, Hunts. Cycles, transferred to the Royal Warwicks, has won the Military Medal in France quite recently. This is the first Ramsey boy of the Hunts. Cyclist to win such an honour. Pte Rolt is the son of Mr and Mr and Mrs A. Rolt, Little Whyte, Ramsey.

Gilbert Richardson - Sergeant

Paper cutting from October 4 1919 = Ex Sergeant Gilbert Richardson, third son of Mr and Mrs H Richardson, builders, Yaxley has been presented with the D. C. M. For gallantry in the field on August 8th 1918. He also received the sum of #20 in addition to the medal, from Mr H. S. Ward, R. N. A. S. He was wounded in the neck and right side. He joined up in the Hunts. Cyclist Battalion in 1915, and was drafted overseas in 1916 to the Royal Warwick Regiment, and was 18 years of age when he joined up. He took command of the platoon when the officers were killed, and attacked the German trenches with every success, when he was wounded.
