- Under Battalion orders 293, issued by Lieut. Col. J. L. Barkley
V. D., officer commanding 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion issued
at Vine cottage, Chapel St. Leonards, Alford, Lincs. on 11th December 1916
at 6:00 p.m., and signed by W. J. Satchell (Captain and Adjutant), orders
being for the following day i.e. 12 December 1916 (Ref: 151), records
indicate that he had been selected to attend the 22nd revolver course
assembling at H. Q, 2/1st Northern Cyclist Battalion, Alford, at 8:30 am.
17-12-1917 and lasting 5 days. For that time he was attached to the 2/1st
Northern Cyclist Battalion. He was to take revolver, holster and 110
rounds of ammunition, notebook, pencil, cycle and field kit. The
quartermaster was duly authorised to issue the ammunition.
