G. A. Bliss.

From a local paper dated 2/2/1916  - New Cyclist Officers.  Sergeant Bliss, of the Hunts. Cyclists has received a commission.  He joined the 2nd Hunts. soon after the Battalion was formed, and was one of the first to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  He organised the excellent band belonging to the Battalion, and had been almost popular N. C. O. with the men.  Mr. Bliss was working for the Church army before he joined the Cyclists.  He belongs to King's Ripton, where Mrs. Bliss holds the position of schoolmistress.

From a local paper = 5/2/1916 2013  - New Cyclist Officers.  Sergeant Bliss, of the Hunts. Cyclists, has received a commission.  He joined the 2nd Hunts. soon after the Battalion was formed, and was one of the first to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  He organised the excellent band belonging to the Battalion, and has been a most popular N. C. O. with the men.  Mr. Bliss was working for the Church Army before joining the Cyclists.  He belongs to King's Ripton, where Mrs. Bliss holds the position of schoolmistress.  Sergeant Harker has also received a commission.  He joined the 2nd Battalion from Yorkshire, and was transferred to the 3rd, and has been for some time in charge of the administrative centre.

Local newspaper entries indicate that by 18th December 1914 Private G. Bliss had been promoted to the rank of Provisional Corporal at the time it was indicated that he was serving as soldier number 762 in the 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battn.

Local newspaper entries indicate that by 2/1/1915 Sergeant G. Bliss had been transferred from B to D Co. of the 2/1st Hunts. Cyclist Battallion.

Local newspaper entries indicate that by 6/11/1915 Sergeant G. A. Bliss [D Co.] had been promoted to the rank of Sergeant Bugler at the time it was indicated that he was serving in the 2/1st Hunts.

Second L/t G. A. Bliss - Under Battalion orders 132, issued by Lieut. Col. J. L. Stanley V. D., officer commanding 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion issued at The Vine Cottage, Chapel St. Leonards, Lincolnshire. on 4th June 1917 at 5-00pm., and signed by H. B. Moss Blundell, ( 2l/t and acting Adjutant), orders being for the following day i.e. 5th June 1917 (Ref: 155), records indicate that he reported his arrival from the 4th Hotchkiss Gun Course at Strensall on 1-6-1917, at the time he was a Sec. L/t. in A company.

 2 l/t. G. A. Bliss was Subaltern of the day or the 2/1st H C B at Well Camp Alford 30th July 1916.

From a local paper = 4/2/1916 366  - Sergeant G. A. Bliss has been promoted to the rank of second lieutenant (on probation) in the Hunts. Cyclist Battalion.  

Local newspaper entries indicate that by 6/11/1915 Sergeant G. A. Bliss [D Co.] had been promoted to the rank of Sergeant Bugler at the time it was indicated that he was serving in the 2/1st Hunts.
