Capt. G. Welstead, by the 25/12/1915 he was one of two officers posted to G Company of the 2/1st H C B.

Capt. G. R. Welstead  - Under Battalion orders 158, issued by Lieut. Col. J. L . Stanley V. D., officer commanding 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion issued at The Vine Cottage, Chapel St. Leonards, Lincs. on 4th July 1917 at 6-00pm., and signed by W. L. Stephenson, ( 2l/t and acting Adjutant), orders being for the following day i.e. 5th July 1917 (Ref: 154), records indicate that he to proceed to a course of Instruction at Brocton, 30/6/1917. At the time he was in C company.

Capt. G R Welstead - Under Battalion orders 55, issued by Lieut. Col. J. L. Stanley V. D., commanding officer of 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion issued at The George Hotel, Alford, Lincs. on 5th March 1917 at 7:00 p.m., and signed by W. L. Stephenson Second Lieutenant and acting adjutant, orders being for the following day i.e. 6th March 1917, records indicate that he was granted leave of absence from 15 to 20th March 1917.

Connection - ?  From a local paper  25/8/16 - Marriage of Mr. C.  R. Coote.  -  The marriage took place on Saturday, at All saints', Hessle, Yorkshire, of Lt. Colin Reith Coote, 4th Gloucester Regiment, Territorial Force, elder son of Mr. Howard Coote, Stukeley Hall, Huntingdon and Miss Marguerite Welstead, youngest daughter of Col. and Mrs. Welstead, of Tranby Lodge, Hassle. The Bishop of Hull officiated, assisted by the Rev. their Hon. C. F. Lyttelton. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attended by four children, one of them being Master Anthony Coote. The Liberals of South Huntingdon gave a silver kettle as a wedding present.


Captain George Reginald Welstead - Under Battalion orders, [Part 2] issued by Lieut. Col. M. D. Barkley, officer commanding 2/1st Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion issued at Beechlands, Skegness on 15th September 1918, and signed by W. J. Satchell (Captain and Adjutant), on 14th September 1918 at 5-00 p.m., [Regulars] records indicate that he was allocated the additional sum of 16/3d in respect of additional housing allowance for part of May, June, July and this sum has been placed with the officer.
