Frederick J. Allgood.

.

Little is known about this man - he came from Hemingford in Huntingdonshire. and is notes as being in the HCB in 1915.

Family information from Bob Pickering indicates that he then served in the Machine Gun Corp. as a private with the regimental number of 35974 - enlisting on 7/2/16 and discharged 10/5/17 reason 'Sick'.

This regimental number is just outside a block of numbers associated with the transfer of men from the HCB to the MGC in August 1916.  The transfer of the HCB men to France was to replace the men being lost in the Battle of the Somme.

He is believed to have been gassed and returned the U K to convalesce in Mitcham, Surrey.  It was during this time he was to meet his future wife and grandmother of Bob.

He was the grandfather of  Bob Picking who had two of his grandfathers serving in the H.C.B. - Horace John Pickering and Frederick J. Allgood.
