John Ellwood - He was a private number 235517 in the 1st Battalion the Lincolnshire Regiment. He was killed in action on the 27th December 1918 whilst serving in France & Flanders aged only 28 years of age. He was born in Hilton and then enlisted in the Huntingdonshire Cyclist. He was the son of the late Joseph and Harriett Ellwood of Tithe Cottage, Hilton, near St. Ives, Huntingdonshire. He was formerly private 1197 in the Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion. He is commemorated on panel 35 to 37 and 162 to 162A of the Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. |
