9/11/1917St. Neots man killed. We regret to state that on Saturday Mrs.
W. Ward, Brook Street, St. Neots, received information from the War
Office that her husband, Pte. W. Ward (Beds. Regiment....) was hit in
the head on October 20, and he died on a later date. He was reported
seriously wounded the 22nd from wounds. The Deceased, who if he had
lived another day, would have been 38 years of age, joined the army in
July, 1916, and had been in France eleven months. At one time he worked
for Mr. A. W. Atkinson, and latterly, for Mr. J. Peacock, Eynesbury. He
leaves six children.
